How can I use #hashtags to find content?

On AetherLink, there are no algorithms deciding what you should see. Instead, hashtags are the primary way to discover new content, join conversations, and find communities centered around your interests.

What is a Hashtag?

A hashtag is any word or phrase (without spaces) preceded by the hash symbol (#). When you add a hashtag like #DigitalArt or #Photography to your post, you are categorizing it and making it discoverable to anyone else interested in that topic.

How can I add a Hashtag to my post?

To make your content discoverable, you should add relevant hashtags directly into the body of your post.

  1. When you are writing a post in the "Create a Post" window, simply type the # symbol followed by your keyword or phrase.

  2. You can place hashtags anywhere in your post—at the beginning, in the middle of a sentence, or at the end.

Tips for effective hashtags

  • For multi-word tags, combine the words without spaces (e.g., #NewMusic not #New Music).

  • Keep them relevant to your post's content.

Finding Content with the Search Bar

The easiest way to explore a topic is by searching for its hashtag.

Step 1: Locate the Search Bar

At the top of the AetherLink page, you will find the main search bar. The placeholder text will prompt you to "Search users or #hashtags".

Step 2: Type Your Hashtag

Click on the search bar and begin typing the topic you're interested in, starting with the # symbol. For example, to find content about Aether, you would type #aether.

Step 3: Select from Suggestions or Search

As you type, a dropdown menu will appear below the search bar, showing you existing hashtags that match your search.

  • You can click directly on a suggested hashtag (like #aetherlink in the example) to go straight to its feed.

  • Alternatively, you can finish typing your hashtag and press Enter to perform the search.

Step 4: Explore the Hashtag Feed

After searching, you will be taken to a dedicated feed that shows all public posts on AetherLink that include the specific hashtag you searched for, displayed chronologically. This is a great way to see what's happening right now within any topic or community.
